What happens if I lose my job?
If you are a non-unionized employee in Canada, and you lose your job, you are likely owed a full severance package — which could be up to 24 months of pay.
Severance is the compensation non-unionized workers receive from their employer when they are fired without cause, or incorrectly let go for cause.
The main factors considered when calculating termination or severance pay include your:
- Age
- Position at the company
- Length of service
- Ability to find new work
If your employer fails to pay adequate compensation, you may be able to claim a wrongful dismissal through an employment lawyer at our firm.
Use our helpful Severance Pay Calculator to determine your severance entitlements.
