About Us

Our Story

Shortly after launching Samfiru Tumarkin LLP in 2007, Lior Samfiru and Sivan Tumarkin came to realize that a majority of Canadians, to their detriment, were unaware of their basic employment, disability and personal injury rights and how to properly enforce them. Terminated employees were accepting woefully inappropriate severance packages. Injured or ill individuals were giving up and walking away from insurance claims following a denial. Rights were being ignored.

In March 2013, we aired Canada’s first radio program on employment law, called the Employment Hour (now the Employment Law Show), in Toronto. A few months later, our firm launched the original Severance Pay Calculator. These two legal innovations introduced hundreds of thousands of Canadians to their true employment rights for the first time, and gave them the confidence to defend their entitlements.

A little over a decade later Samfiru Tumarkin LLP has grown from two lawyers to a team comprised of over one hundred members, including over 40 legal representatives (lawyers and paralegals). We have offices in Toronto, Vancouver, Ottawa, and Calgary, representing clients across Ontario, British Columbia and Alberta. Our unique educational pursuits have expanded from employment law and radio to include disability & personal injury law, and programs on television and online (the Disability Law Show).

Whether through our dozens of programs, hundreds of media interviews, speaking engagements, or legal victories, our lawyers continue to remain at the forefront of law in Canada.
