Travis Carpenter is an Ontario employment lawyer and Associate with Samfiru Tumarkin LLP’s Labour and Employment practice group, serving clients across the province.
Working through the firm’s employment law services in Toronto and Ottawa, Travis represents employees and employers on a broad range of employment matters, including:
- Dismissals for cause and without cause in Ontario
- Wrongful dismissals
- Constructive dismissals in Ontario
- Severance pay negotiations
- Temporary layoffs
- Workplace harassment and sexual harassment
- Discrimination at work
- Human rights issues
- Employment contract review and drafting
- Employee misclassification
Prior to joining Samfiru Tumarkin LLP as an associate in August 2023, he completed his articles with the firm.
Travis understands the profound impact employment and labour disputes can have on an individual’s physical, mental, and financial health. Using a “human-first” and pragmatic approach, he is committed to providing timely and effective solutions for his clients.
Outside the office, Travis enjoys golfing, playing games of all kinds, creating cocktails for his friends, and trying out various cuisines.

Education
Travis obtained his Juris Doctor (J.D.) from the University of Western Ontario. During his time in law school, he was an avid mooter and an elected representative of Western Law’s student government.
Prior to law school, Travis received an Honours Bachelor of Arts (with distinction) from the University of Western Ontario — double majoring in Psychology and Criminology. He was awarded the Western Gold Medal for achieving the highest academic average in an Honours Major in Criminology.

Extracurricular accomplishments
During his time at the University of Western Ontario, Travis chaired and participated in several Model NATO and Model UN Conferences. He was also a political issues writer for the King’s University student magazine.
