Show Notes
- Employee rights after the sale of business: Employees that continue to work for the new owner after the sale of a business should be wary of signing a new employment contract. Employees that are terminated by the new owner would be owed severance pay. Severance would have to take into consideration the entire length of employment of the employee, including the previous years of service.
- Reduced hours by employer: Employers do not have the ability to impose major changes to an employee’s job without their consent. A significant change can be a drastic schedule change or reduction in hours and pay. Employees who do not wish to accept the imposed changes could consider constructive dismissal.
- Employee forced to resign: Employees cannot be pressured to resign by their employers. A resignation must be completely voluntary and a forced resignation is considered to be a breach of contract. Employees that have been pushed to resign can consider their employment terminated.
