Show Notes
- Put on a temporary layoff: Employers do not have the ability to place employees on a temporary layoff without their consent. Employees that have not initially agreed to layoffs in their employment contracts, can treat their employment as terminated.
- Physical restrictions while working from home: Employers have an obligation to accommodate an employee’s medical condition and medical needs. A failure to do so can be considered a human rights violation. Injuries that are acquired as a result of a workplace incident or lack of care from an employer could result in workplace compensation benefits.
- Federally regulated employee severance entitlements: In general, severance pay is calculated in the same manner for federally regulated employees and provincially regulated employees. Severance is based on a number of factors, such as the age of an employee, position and years of service.
