Show Notes
- Severance for employees when a business shuts down: Despite a business closure, it is important for employees to remember that they are still owed severance pay if they are no longer employed. Employers can only withhold severance pay from employees if they have declared bankruptcy.
- Misinformation about announcing pregnancy: Employees that are pregnant and beginning a new job do not have to disclose their pregnancy when interviewing for a new position or beginning new employment. Employers are not permitted to discriminate against an employee that is pregnant.
- Employee facing disciplinary issues as a result of pregnancy: Employers cannot penalize or terminate an employee as a result of their pregnancy. Employers who feel that there are performance issues must try and accommodate the employee as much as possible.
