Show Notes
- Severance packages for construction workers: Employees in the construction industry mistakenly believe that if terminated, they are not owed severance pay. Employees in the construction industry are owed severance based on the same calculation as other employees. Severance pay is based on an employee’s age, position and length of employment.
- Wrongful dismissal definition: Most people believe a wrongful dismissal occurs when an employee is terminated and should not have been let go. Wrongful dismissals actually occur when an employee is terminated without cause and is not offered adequate severance pay. Employers are permitted to terminate employees for any reason as long as accurate severance pay is offered.
- Harassment in the workplace: Employers have an obligation to investigate all complaints of harassment in the workplace and resolve the situation. For employers that have found allegations to be accurate, a termination for cause is possible.
