• An employee working for a US-based company’s employment rights: Employment laws that govern employees are based on where an employee is physically located despite the region or location of the company. This is particularly important in regard to severance pay upon termination for employees.
• Given working notice but resigned immediately: Employees that are given working notice by their employers often want to leave employment immediately. It is important to remember that employees that decide to leave voluntarily before their last day, it is considered to be a resignation and they are not owed any severance.
• Harassed by a manager in the workplace: All employees have a right to work in a safe and harassment-free work environment. Employees should bring complaints, in writing, to the appropriate department first in the workplace. Employers are obligated to investigate all complaints and resolve the situation. A failure to investigate and rectify the issue can lead to further legal consequences.
