Is Ubisoft Being Sued?

Yes. Marc-Alexis Côté, the former head of Ubisoft’s Assassin’s Creed franchise, is reportedly suing the video game giant for $1.3 million — claiming that he was constructively dismissed.

Côté alleges that he received a new job opportunity from the company in Sept. 2025, which he describes as an “unacceptable demotion” constituting “disguised dismissal.” He rejected the offer and asked Ubisoft to provide him with his severance package.

To his surprise, the company released a news release in Oct. 2025 — claiming he was leaving his duties “voluntarily” to “explore new opportunities.”

Côté denies that it was a voluntary departure. He’s seeking 2 years of salary and $75,000 in moral damages.

The allegations made against Ubisoft haven’t been tested in a court of law at this time.
