Teen dead after pickup truck collides with commercial truck west of Athabasca
Incident details
A 14-year-old boy is dead after a pickup truck collided with a broken-down commercial truck west of Athabasca.
- The incident took place in the westbound lanes of Highway 2 near Range Road 232 around 6:30 p.m. MT on Nov. 18.
- “Alberta RCMP give our sincere condolences to the family, friends, and loved ones of the deceased [teenager]. This is a profound loss of life for the family, and the community as a whole,” police said in a statement.
- The driver of the pickup truck and the driver of the commercial truck were treated for injuries. The severity of their condition wasn’t disclosed.
Investigation updates
The cause of the two-vehicle collision remains under investigation. Alcohol and drugs aren’t believed to be factors.
