COVID-19: Maternity Leave and Employment Insurance (EI) Issues

Many employees returning to work or temporarily laid off have had questions and concerns over their benefits and pay. Mothers currently on maternity leave are also wondering what the Canadian government’s plans are for them.

With a minimum requirement for hours in order to qualify for maternity leave, government officials are saying the issue lies with how Employment Insurance payments are structured.
