Air Canada cutting 1,500 jobs and suspending additional flights
Air Canada has announced another round of service cuts and layoffs today, affecting 1,500 employees and 17 transborder and international routes. The country’s largest airline says the decision is related to the ongoing impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on air travel.
Starting on Feb. 18, the airline will suspend routes from Montreal, Toronto and Vancouver.
A number of managers will be placed on layoff.
This follows a decision by Air Canada in January to reduce service by 25%, resulting in 1,700 layoffs.
