‘A complete loss’: Gas station crash east of Edmonton triggers explosion, fire

A vehicle crashed into the natural gas meter at a gas station east of Edmonton, triggering an explosion and fire that destroyed the building.
The incident occurred at the Tempo gas station in Ardrossan—located at Highway 16 and Range Road 223—after 8 a.m. MT on Dec. 1.
- Photos of the scene show a white Toyota Tacoma and a red SUV surrounded by the remnants of the gas station.
- Strathcona County Emergency Services (SCES) called the building, which contained Country Boyz Food Store and Country Roads Restaurant, “a complete loss.”
- No injuries have been reported at this time.
