Tucows Layoffs: Slashing Ting workforce by 42%, part of restructuring
What’s going on at Tucows?
Toronto-based Tucows is trimming its headcount by approximately 17 per cent and slashing the workforce of its Ting Internet business by around 42 per cent as part of a “capital efficiency plan.”
“This decision was a difficult one and I want to acknowledge the impact it will have on the employees who are leaving,” CEO Elliot Noss said in a news release.
“These are hardworking people who have made significant contributions to the company, and their dedication will be remembered. We do not take these measures lightly, and this decision was made with the deepest consideration for the future of the Ting business and its continued sustainability.”
Tucows added that it will provide more details on its capital efficiency plan during its “Q3 2024 Management Remarks” on Nov. 7.

Severance offers and deadlines
Before accepting a severance offer, double-check the amount using our firm’s free Severance Pay Calculator. It has helped millions of Canadians determine their entitlements.
In addition to your salary, make sure to factor in any other elements of your compensation (i.e. bonuses, commission, etc.).
If your employer’s offer falls short of what our Severance Pay Calculator says you are owed, it’s very likely that you have been wrongfully dismissed and should contact an experienced employment lawyer at Samfiru Tumarkin LLP.
Non-unionized employees in Canada have up to two years from the date of their dismissal to pursue proper severance pay.
An employer’s deadline to sign back a severance offer isn’t legally enforceable or binding.
