“I’m Angry”: Global Affairs Canada Requiring Remote Staff to Work at Ottawa Offices
What’s Happening at Global Affairs Canada?
Global Affairs Canada (GAC) is requiring remote employees to work at its offices in the Ottawa-Gatineau region — regardless if they’ve been “fully remote” for several years.
The relocation mandate isn’t possible for some staffers, leaving them with no choice but to resign.
“I’m angry,” one affected employee told CBC Radio-Canada — adding that they accepted their job offer after GAC assured them working remotely wouldn’t be an issue.
At the end of 2025, the agency reportedly had 307 “fully remote” staffers who lived more than 125 kilometres from their workplace.
