Show Notes
- Unsafe working condition complaint: All employees have a right to refuse unsafe work and work in a healthy and safe environment. Employees cannot be penalized for voicing complaints, it is considered a reprisal. Employees that have been terminated as a result of filing a complaint with the Ministry of Labour, should seek advice from an employment lawyer.
- Asked to take on more responsibilities at work: Employers in many workplaces have been asking employees to take on tasks that are not related to their position. Employees do not have to accept major changes to the terms of their employment and can refuse. Major imposed changes by an employer can lead to constructive dismissal.
- Terminated for cause and not offered severance: A termination for cause ensures an employer does not have to provide severance. Employers often incorrectly terminate employees for cause. It is very difficult to prove a termination for cause as an employee has had to exhibit serious misconduct.
