Show Notes
- Cost-cutting measures from technology employers: Many technology corporations have implemented mass layoffs in the past few weeks. Employers seem to believe that mass layoffs mistakenly ensure less severance pay. Employees in the tech sector that have been involved in a recent layoff should contact an employment lawyer. Severance packages are often inadequate and do not include all elements of compensation.
- Terminating an employee before seeking legal advice: Employers should be careful before terminating an employee, even without cause. Employers need to determine the necessary inclusions for severance pay as well as potential contract obligations.
- Letting an employee go before a bonus: Employers should not lay employees off or terminate employees before an annual bonus has been given. Employers typically terminate an employee in this manner in order to save costs. Employees are entitled to all elements of compensation in a severance package, including an annual bonus.
