- Work model changed for employees: Employers do not have the ability to alter significant terms of employment without an employee’s consent. This is a constructive dismissal. Employees that worked remotely prior to the pandemic do not have to accept a request to return to the office employer. Alternatively, employees that worked remotely as a result of the pandemic, if requested to return to the office, must do so.
- Severance if the company owner is in a different country: Employees are entitled to the rights and protections of the country and region they reside in. Despite working for an American owner, employees that work and live in Canada are entitled to severance pay if they lose employment.
- Defining and resolving harassment at the workplace: Workplace harassment refers to any conduct that is considered unwelcome. Employees are within their rights to voice complaints of harassment and discrimination at the workplace as they are entitled to a safe work environment.
