Show Notes
- Recruited to a new job and let go after months of employment: Employees that have been induced to leave their position and recruited to a new job if let go must be given credit for the time employed at the previous company. This is vital when determining a severance package.
- The company sold to a new owner with no mention of severance: Employees that are not hired or taken on by a new owner must be given severance by their previous employer. Severance should be calculated based on a number of factors including the age of the employee, the position, as well as length of employment.
- Being set up by an employer to be terminated: Many employees believe that their employers are planning to terminate them for cause. Termination for cause ensures that an employee does not have to be paid severance upon termination. It is very difficult to terminate an employee for cause and many employers mistakenly do so for simple mistakes and errors made by an employee.
- Cameras recording employees during the day: Employers are within their rights to implement cameras throughout the workplace that can monitor employees unless cameras are put in a place in which employee privacy rights are infringed upon, i.e. a bathroom.
