Show Notes

  • Older sales employees are given a new employment contract: Before agreeing to or signing a new employment contract, employees are within their rights to refuse and seek advice from an employment lawyer. Employment contracts typically seek to limit the rights of an employee, particularly in regard to temporary layoffs and severance pay.
  • A new role being offered or severance package: When an employee is being let go or if an employee’s position is being eliminated, there is an expectation for employees to make reasonable efforts to find employment. Employees that have applied for a position within a company and have been unsuccessful are owed severance pay. Most severance packages are lump sum payments however occasionally they are contingent on employees being able to find a new job and are given out as a salary continuation.
  • Working from home and still being denied vaccine exemption leads to resignation: Employees that are unionized need to speak to their union representatives even if they have left their current position. Non-unionized employees that were able to work from home and still told to follow a vaccination policy do have access to pursue legal advice as the policy could be considered unreasonable.
