A tragic incident occurred on Saturday night in southeast Edmonton, where a 53-year-old woman lost her life after being struck by a vehicle. The collision took place at approximately 9:30 p.m. at the intersection of Ellerslie Road S.W. and 66 Street S.W.

The victim was crossing Ellerslie Road when she was hit by a 2008 Toyota Camry.

  • Emergency crews were dispatched to the scene; however, despite their efforts, the woman was pronounced dead at the scene.
  • The 19-year-old male driver of the Camry was not injured in the incident and remained on the scene following the collision.

  • Preliminary findings suggest that neither speed nor alcohol were contributing factors in the crash.
  • According to police, the collision occurred as the sedan was traveling east on Ellerslie Road, and the pedestrian began crossing the road before the walking signal had activated, just as the traffic light changed from yellow to red.
