Winter blast leads to multiple Toronto collisions to kick off April

What happened?
Toronto police say they’ve responded to multiple collisions on April 8 after a blast of winter weather lead to slippery road conditions.
Two notable, back-to-back incidents include:
- A six-vehicle crash in the southbound lanes of the Don Valley Parkway at Don Mills Road and the Bayview/Bloor ramps. The incident took place around 5:27 a.m. ET. One person was taken to hospital with minor injuries.
- A three-vehicle collision in the eastbound lanes of the Gardiner Expressway at York Street. The incident took place around 5:34 a.m. ET. No injuries have been reported at this time.
“I don’t think anyone anticipated slippery conditions or frost at this time of year, so they haven’t adjusted their driving potentially,” Toronto police Staff Sgt. Paul Lentsch told CBC News.
Lentsch added that the City of Toronto is planning to address weather conditions with crash trucks and possible salt trucks.
