What’s Happening?

US President Donald Trump has increased duties on softwood lumber to 45% and slapped a 25% levy on certain furniture imports (i.e. kitchen cabinets and vanities).

“It doesn’t make any sense, and this attack has serious consequences for Canadians and for British Columbians,” BC Premier David Eby told reporters on Oct. 14.

Eby added that the latest US trade action puts his province’s forestry industry on a “knife edge.”
