Temporary Layoffs, CN Rail Blockades & Employment Law – Global News

Employment lawyer Jon Pinkus is interviewed by Global's Farah Nasser about layoffs at Via Rail, and why they're owed severance pay.

Via Rail is moving to temporarily lay off nearly 1,000 people. On Tuesday, CN rail announced that it would temporarily lay off approximately 450 of its employees due to train cancellations and suspensions.

Both layoffs are a result of the blockades by protesters who oppose a British Columbia LNG pipeline.
