BMW Driver, Passenger Hurt After Kawartha Lakes Police-Involved Crash

The Special Investigations Unit (SIU), Ontario’s police watchdog, has stepped in after a BMW crashed into multiple parked vehicles while fleeing Kawartha Lakes police in Lindsay on April 19, 2026.


What Happened?

  • A Kawartha Lakes police officer stopped behind a “BMW of interest” at Regent Street and Victoria Avenue North before 3:30am ET on April 19.
  • “The driver [of the BMW] fled and the officer pursued the vehicle. A short time later, [the driver] collided with a parked vehicle and landed on the top of another parked vehicle at Victoria Avenue South and Glenelg Street West,” the SIU said in a news release.
  • The driver of the BMW, a 21-year-old man, and his passenger, a 32-year-old woman, sustained serious injuries.

The cause of the collision remains under investigation.
