Motorcyclist, 42, Seriously Hurt After York Police-Involved Crash in Vaughan
The Special Investigations Unit (SIU), Ontario’s police watchdog, has stepped in after a motorcycle crashed while fleeing York police in Vaughan on April 19, 2026.

What Happened?
- A York police officer responded to a disturbance on Purcell Crescent, near Drummond Drive and Keele Street, around 10pm ET on April 19.
- “The officer located a man on a motorcycle and activated the lights on his cruiser. The man fled on the motorcycle. A short time later, the man crashed the motorcycle,” the SIU said in a news release.
- The motorcyclist, a 42-year-old man, was taken to a Toronto hospital with serious injuries. His condition isn’t considered life-threatening.

The cause of the collision remains under investigation.
