Scotiabank Slashed 3,000 Jobs to Close Out 2025, Part of Restructuring
What Happened at Scotiabank?
The Bank of Nova Scotia (Scotiabank), one of Canada’s big banks, revealed at an event on Jan. 6, 2026 that approximately 3,000 roles were axed late last year as part of a restructuring program.
“The restructuring charge [disclosed in our recent quarterly report], which was a multi-month, probably multi-quarter effort to make sure that we did this the right way, was significant,” CEO Scott Thomson said.
