Researchers are taking a closer look at the benefits of red-light therapy, with new evidence suggesting that it could play a key role in helping people with Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s disease.

Multiple trials are currently underway — looking at how the method is capable of mitigating cognitive decline.

“[The benefits of red-light therapy is] slowly starting to get traction,” John Mitrofanis at the University of Grenoble Alpes in France told New Scientist.

“When I [began my work on red-light therapy 15 years ago], there might have been 10 or 20 publications a year, but now there are thousands.”

Experts claim clinical trials are crucial in order to pinpoint the best delivery method or combo for a given condition.

Disability Benefits for Neurological Disorders in Canada

Neurological disorders, like Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s disease, can have a profound impact on an individual’s ability to perform their job duties — even with appropriate treatment.

For Canadians who aren’t able to work, short-term disability (STD) and long-term disability (LTD) benefits can provide a crucial financial lifeline.

How These Benefits Help

  • STD: Provides temporary financial support for individuals unable to perform their job duties.
  • LTD: Offers income replacement for individuals unable to return to work for an extended period of time.

To qualify for STD or LTD benefits, medical documentation is essential to demonstrate how your condition prevents you from working.

Sadly, insurance companies often deny legitimate LTD claims — including in cases involving neurological disorders — adding unnecessary stress to an already difficult situation.
