Ontario extends three paid sick days during COVID-19 to end of 2021

Ontario legislature building, government of ontario, ontario government

The Ontario government will extend its COVID-19 paid sick leave program, to the end of 2021. The decision is in response to the fast spread of the Delta variant.

The paid sick leave plan, or paid “infectious disease emergency leave”, was originally set to expire on Sep. 25. It will now continue until Dec. 31.

The provincial program provides employees with up $200 in pay, up to three days, if they must miss work due to COVID-19. The employer provides this payment to the employee, and the government reimburses the employer through WSIB.
