Ontario bracing for 60 cm of snow, drivers urged to plan ahead
What’s happening?
Ontario is set to receive a major dumping of snow, which could total up to, or more than, 60 centimetres (cm) by the weekend.
Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) has issued several snow squall warnings for areas north and east of the Greater Toronto Area (GTA).
❄️Snow squalls will continue to affect regions southeast of Lake Huron, Superior and Georgian Bay into Friday.
⚠️Weather conditions can vary considerably and visibility may be suddenly reduced at times.

Parts of the GTA, including Oakville, are expected to receive between five to 10 cm of snow.
Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are reminding motorists to plan ahead before heading out and to drive with caution as visibility could dramatically decrease while travelling through certain parts of the province.
