Meta Slashing 5% of Staff to Start 2025, Moving Out ‘Low Performers’
What’s going on at Meta?
Meta, the parent company of Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp, is set to cut approximately five per cent of its workforce, focusing on its lowest-performing employees.
“I’ve decided to raise the bar on performance management and move out low performers faster,” CEO Mark Zuckerberg said in a memo to staff.
“We typically manage out people who aren’t meeting expectations over the course of a year, but now we’re going to do more extensive performance-based cuts during this cycle, with the intention of back filling these roles in 2025.”
Affected workers will reportedly be notified by Feb. 10 and receive severance pay in line with what the tech giant has provided previously.
