Kellog’s offers support for employees regarding pregnancy

Kellog’s has recently announced that they will provide more support to employees who have experienced pregnancy loss as well as ongoing difficulties with fertility and menopause. This announcement could help many employees who are worried about their rights in the workplace as a result of pregnancy despite government support for employee rights.
Jon Pinkus, a Toronto employment lawyer and partner at Samfiru Tumarkin LLP spoke with Sharmeen Somani at Global News to discuss employment laws in place that offer protection for employees who are pregnant or taking maternity leave.

“An employee cannot be discriminated against if they are pregnant or trying to get pregnant, which covers fertility treatments,” says Pinkus. “Women can also take time off from their employers if they can produce a doctor’s note.”
