Is General Motors Cutting IT Jobs in 2026?

Yes. General Motors (GM) is trimming its salaried IT workforce in May 2026 — affecting 500 to 600 staffers globally.

“GM is transforming its [IT] organization to better position the company for the future,” the automaker said in a statement to CNBC.

“We are grateful for the contributions of the employees affected and are committed to supporting them through this transition.”

Impact on Canadian Staff

It remains unclear if any salaried IT employees at GM Canada are being let go.

According to LinkedIn, the company has more than 4,100 workers in the country.
