Higher Fibre Intake Capable of Improving Sleep, 2026 Study Finds

Not only can a higher fibre intake lead to deeper sleep, but eating a variety of fibre-rich foods can help individuals nod off faster, according to a recent study.

Dr. Hagai Rossman and his colleges at the Weizmann Institute of Science in Israel examined the sleep and dietary data of more than 3,500 adults — aged 53, on average — for 2 consecutive days.

The researchers found that the participants who reported eating more fibre than the cohort’s average of 21 grams per day tended to get better sleep on night #2 than those who didn’t.

“Controlling for the previous day really allowed us to explore how what you eat in the day affects your next night of sleep,” Rossman told New Scientist.

However, experts claim further trials — ideally in sleep clinics — are needed to confirm the latest findings.

Disability Benefits for Sleep Disorders in Canada

Sleep disorders can have a profound impact on an individual’s ability to perform their job duties.

For Canadians who can’t work due to this grave illness, short-term disability (STD) and long-term disability (LTD) benefits can provide a crucial financial lifeline.

How These Benefits Help

  • STD: Provides temporary financial support for individuals unable to perform their job duties.
  • LTD: Offers income replacement for individuals unable to return to work for an extended period of time.

To qualify for STD or LTD benefits, medical documentation is essential to demonstrate how your condition prevents you from working.

Sadly, insurance companies often deny legitimate LTD claims — including in cases involving sleep disorders — adding unnecessary stress to an already difficult situation.
