“Enterprise Reimagined” reshapes Edward Jones: 259 laid off, 552 took buyouts

What’s Going on at Edward Jones?

Edward Jones is deep into a major operational restructuring — and 811 support roles have now been impacted across North America.

  • The St. Louis-based investment firm laid off 259 home office employees this week, following months of uncertainty surrounding its “Enterprise Reimagined” initiative.
  • Earlier this year, 552 employees accepted voluntary buyouts, bringing the total impacted in 2025 to 811 home office staff, according to the St. Louis Business Journal.
  • No financial advisors or branch team members were affected, the firm said.
  • In a statement Thursday, Edward Jones confirmed the cuts were focused on its US and Canadian operations, which span offices in St. Louis, Tempe (AZ), and Mississauga (Canada).
  • Layoff notices were delivered Monday and Tuesday, with no public disclosure about severance terms or reassignment outcomes.

“Through these programs, the firm streamlined its US and Canadian operations and created the foundation for a more effective home office,” a company spokesperson said.

Official Statements and Internal Context

Edward Jones framed the layoffs as part of a larger effort to modernize operations and better support its 20,000 financial advisors.

  • The company said it is restructuring “to serve more clients more completely” and to increase speed and efficiency in decision-making.
  • As of June 27, Edward Jones reported 9,455 home office employees spread across all 50 US states and five Canadian provinces.
  • Its total workforce — including part-time and branch employees — stands at roughly 55,000.

Despite the cuts, the firm says fewer than 2% of its total workforce was directly impacted by layoffs.
