Driver charged for hitting motorcyclist, attempting to flee wrong-way crash on Hamilton Mountain

A hit-and-run incident occurred on Sunday evening, involving a motorcyclist and a sedan on Hamilton Mountain. The collision took place around 7:15 p.m. near the intersection of Garth Street and Darlington Drive.

Victim information
The victim, a 72-year-old man, was riding his motorcycle southbound on Garth Street when he was struck by a black 2008 Mazda 3 sedan.
- The vehicle was traveling in the wrong direction, heading northbound in the southbound lanes.
- The motorcyclist sustained serious but stable injuries and was transported to the hospital by paramedics.
Investigation updates
Hamilton police have arrested the 30-year-old driver of the Mazda, who attempted to flee the scene after the crash. He is facing charges of dangerous operation of a vehicle and driving while under suspension. The roads in the area have since been reopened following the investigation.
