CBC News asked an Ottawa employment lawyer at Samfiru Tumarkin LLP, to answer a question submitted by the public about employee rights during the COVID-19.
Can I be forced by my employer to wear PPE at work?
Belitzky told CBC News that in general, if it’s for health and safety reasons, “an employer can designate that employees have to wear PPE.”
“However, there might be exceptions to this where, for example, medical or religious accommodations are required for certain employees.”
