Bungie Confirms “Significant” June Job Cuts, Destiny Staff Mostly Affected

Is Bungie Cutting Jobs in 2026?

Yes. Bungie confirmed on June 25, 2026 that it’s undergoing a “significant” workforce reduction.

Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE), the owner of the video game studio behind major franchises, including Destiny, Halo, and Marathon, said in a blog post that “multiple alternatives” were explored before concluding that job cuts at Bungie were “necessary.”


Which Roles are Affected by Job Cuts at Bungie?

Multiple units are affected by the latest workforce reduction at Bungie, including:

  • Most of the Destiny team
  • Some members of the Marathon team
  • Some SIE employees

It remains unclear if any Canadian workers at either Bungie or SIE have been let go.
