What’s Happening at Amazon?

Amazon is reportedly planning to eliminate as many as 30,000 corporate roles as part of its ongoing restructuring.

“If you believe your mission is to make customers’ lives easier and better every day, and you believe that every customer experience will be reinvented with AI, you’re going to invest very aggressively in AI, and that’s what we’re doing,” CEO Andy Jassy told analysts in May.

In a blog post on Oct. 28, the e-commerce giant confirmed that “approximately 14,000 roles” are being axed. Most affected staff will be given 90 days to look for a new role internally.

“For our teammates who are unable to find a new role at Amazon or who choose not to look for one, we’ll offer them transition support including severance pay, outplacement services, health insurance benefits, and more,” the post reads.
