Employees Claim Toxic Work at Coventry Homes: Journal of Commerce

Coventry Homes Inc. has been sued by five former employees due who allege a toxic work environment, workplace harassment, and sexual assault. The director of sales, Robin Nasserdeen, has since been let go by the company.

Aaron Levitin, a Calgary employment lawyer and Associate at Samfiru Tumarkin LLP, represents the claimants and spoke to the Journal of Commerce on the former employees’ bravery.

“They’re strong, they’re brave. There are ebbs and flows. This is a traumatic experience and everybody is dealing with it differently,” said Levitin.

Levitin went on to reiterate how Nasseerdeen and Coventry Homes derailed successful careers for all five women who now have to deal with the consequences of a terrible work environment. “I think it’s important to recognize that some of the women involved have been highly successful and now their careers have been tarnished by these horrible events.”

Levitin stated that Coventry, like all businesses and employers, had an obligation to provide a safe work environment for its staff. “What a company must do is immediately take these sorts of incidents seriously and conduct their own investigation as best as they can, whether that means hiring a third-party investigator who has no connection to the company to make sure that it’s done properly,” Levitin said.
