22-year-old dead after fiery tractor-trailer crash northwest of Ottawa

The driver of a passenger vehicle is dead after colliding with a tractor-trailer on Highway 17 in Whitewater Region Township, northwest of Ottawa.
- Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) said the early-morning crash took place on the highway between Mountain Road and Sutherland Road.
- A passenger vehicle travelling westbound reportedly crossed the dividing line and collided with a tractor-trailer heading eastbound — catching fire.
- The driver of the passenger vehicle, a 22-year-old from North Algona-Wilberforce Township, was pronounced dead at the scene.
- No injures were reported for the driver of the tractor-trailer.
- Highway 17 was closed between Highway 41 and County Road 8 in Cobden for approximately 12 hours on Jan. 14.
Investigation updates
The cause of the fatal two-vehicle collision remains under investigation.
