Havoc on Hwy. 26: At least 5 vehicles involved in Thornbury crash

Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are urging motorists to drive with caution after a snowy smashup on Highway 26 in Thornbury.
The incident took place on the highway between Foodland and Goldsmiths before 9 a.m. ET on Jan. 27.
- OPP believe five to 10 vehicles may have been involved in the collision.
- “We are asking [drivers that left the scene of the crash] to come forward now and report their involvement,” Const. Wesley Staddon told CollingwoodToday.ca.
- No injuries have been reported at this time.
- Highway 26 was temporarily closed while crews worked to clear the affected vehicles out of the way.
Investigation updates
The cause of the multi-vehicle collision remains under investigation.
Staddon said the road conditions are “rapidly changing” with high winds causing sudden and complete whiteouts and patches of drifting snow.
Anyone with information on the incident, including cellphone or dashcam footage, is asked to contact the OPP.
