Not Enough Medical Information for PTSD Claims
My girlfriend was denied long-term disability because apparently she didn’t have enough medical information submitted. She’s 47 years old, works as a cop and suffers from PTSD because of a shooting she was involved in over a year ago. Her psychologist says that she needs time off indefinitely at this point and she’s on medications and in weekly therapy. The insurance company wrote to her saying that unless a psychiatrist says that she can’t work she won’t qualify. They won’t tell her why they need a psychiatrist and won’t accept her treating psychologist’s opinion. Should she get a psychiatrist involved at this point?
