Is the Peel District School Board Cutting Jobs?

Yes — the Peel District School Board (PDSB) has reportedly issued layoff notices to more than 300 teachers in Mississauga, Brampton, and Caledon as the board grapples with declining student enrolment.

An affected teacher told INsauga.com that the workforce reduction will take place in September 2026, impacting both the elementary and secondary panels.

The bombshell update comes roughly a week after the Ontario government took control of the PDSB and appointed a supervisor to oversee operations.
