Amazon Web Services Trims Workforce in July, Part of 2025 Restructuring

What Happened at AWS?

Amazon has pulled out the axe again — reportedly trimming its Amazon Web Services (AWS) cloud computing unit on July 17.

“We’ve made the difficult business decision to eliminate some roles across particular teams in AWS,” a spokesperson for the e-commerce giant said in a statement to Reuters.

“These decisions are necessary as we continue to invest, hire, and optimize resources to deliver innovation for our customers.”

The latest round of job cuts comes roughly a month after CEO Andy Jassy warned that AI adoption is expected to shrink Amazon’s workforce.
