Show Notes
- Not permitted to resign from a job: Employers cannot force employees to remain at their workplace and prevent them from quitting. Employees are within their rights to resign or leave their places of employment. In some situations, employees might be obligated to provide a certain amount of notice.
- No employment contract given by the employer: It is in an employee’s best interest to continue working without an employment contract. Employment agreements are created in order to protect the interests of the employer, and not typically an employee. Contracts can include terminology that restricts an employee’s rights, particularly those to severance.
- Limits to surveillance in the workplace: Employers can surveil employees in environments in which privacy cannot be expected. Employees should expect their activities are being monitored in public work workplaces, or conduct business on behalf of their employer. Employers cannot record private conversations of their staff or in private spaces.
