- Employee lied to about reason for termination: Employees often mistakenly believe that a wrongful dismissal occurs when an employer has terminated an employee for a false reason or no reason at all. Employers are legally permitted to terminate an employee for any reason as long as adequate severance pay is offered.
- Severance package calculations: Employees are owed severance pay based on employment law. Employment laws dictate that full severance entitlements are based on the age of an employee, their length of service and their position. All components of an employee’s compensation must be included in their severance package, including bonuses, car allowances, etc.
- Entitled to vacation days: Employers are not obligated to offer vacation days in the first year of employment to staff. Employees are earning vacation pay and time over the course of the first year typically to be taken the following.
