Episode Notes
- My husband has been getting benefits for nearly a year due to a back injury he sustained at work. He wasn’t able to attend a couple of rehab sessions over the holidays as we were out of town and now the insurer is threatening to cut him off for non-compliance. What does this mean?
- Do individuals on LTD have to go to the doctor/clinic that the insurer suggests for treatment?
- Can someone make a disability claim where their employer is refusing to accommodate their health needs?
- I started receiving disability benefits but I was cut off and reinstated already a few times. Last summer, my doctor suggested that I try a return to work as a strategy, to prove to the disability insurer that I couldn’t work. I did that and only lasted 2 days. I started getting benefits again, but the insurance company sent me for an independent assessment. What should I do?
- Why is ST Law so committed to media efforts like this radio show?
- My wife has been off on LTD for nearly 2 years and is a breast cancer survivor. She’s now on medication to maintain her health, but it makes her very tired. Her doctor says she is not ready to return to work, but the insurer has been pressuring her for months. Now the insurance company has assigned a new rehab person and supposed to go back to work part-time. What I can do?
- I’ve been on CPPD for 10 years and have no heard from them once. Why is that?
- Can someone’s entitlement to a pension affect their disability benefits in any way?
- My anxiety and gallstones got to be too much for me to work and I got LTD benefits. After a year, I tried to go back to work, but I didn’t last more than a few hours before ending up in emergency surgery. I got disability benefits again for a few months but was cut off as the insurer thought my fibromyalgia was pre-existing. Is the insurance company right?
