- Denied long-term disability whilst suffering from numerous mental illnesses: After a claim for benefits has been denied it is important to seek the right legal help in order to pursue their rights and benefits. It is important for claimants to seek the appropriate counsel and research and disability lawyers are beholden to certain conduct.
- A union member is denied long-term disability benefits: Unlike employment matters, union members have slightly different rights and options available to them in order to pursue their disability benefits.
- The claimant with a degenerative condition applying for LTD: Many individuals with medical conditions question whether or not they will be entitled to long-term disability benefits. Individuals who are unable to perform the essential tasks of their own occupation and have the support of a treating doctor should apply for benefits.
- LTD benefits extended but told to apply for OTIP: It is important for claimants to abide by the terms outlined in their disability policy. Most disability policies contain provisions that instruct claimants to apply for CPP Disability benefits or other programs, such as OTIP. Claimants who do not apply could run the risk of losing benefits from their insurance company.
