What can I do if the insurance company isn’t getting back to me about my claim?
We were contacted by a woman who was having difficulty with her insurance claim. Her insurance company wasn’t getting back to her about her claim. She had been in contact with a different law firm and was pressured into signing up with them, but her claim still wasn’t progressing.
Chapter 2:
What will happen to my disability insurance if I try to return to part-time?
A client who was on disability due to an accident was contacted by her employer with an offer to return to work on modified part-time duties. She was unsure of how to proceed, as this was against the advice of her doctors and she was unsure of how this would impact her LTD.

Do I have to be seen be a certain type of a doctor to have my LTD claim approved for a mental health issue?
My sister has been dealing with some difficult situations at home and has been diagnosed with severe depression as a result. Her doctor has advised that she is unable to work but her claim has been denied.

If I have missed my deadline to apply for Long-term Disability due to dealing with medical problems is there anything I can do?
My father recently suffered a stroke and is impaired because of this. I am acting as his power of attorney to help deal with his medical issues, but there has been a lot to deal with and we missed filing our LTD claim by 10 days.

What can I do if my insurer has told me to apply for CPP and I don’t qualify?
My friend was told by her insurer that she needed to apply for CPP. She did and was denied, now the insurance company is cutting off her payments due to her CPP denial.
Chapter 6:
Who is responsible for a slip and fall injury in a place of business?
My father slipped in a grocery store and broke his hip due to a leak in their equipment. He has had to have surgery to correct the injury and doctors have told us that he be able to walk properly and that we should consider in-home medical care.

Why would I be approved for Short-term Disability but denied for Long-term?
My son was bullied and harassed at his workplace and is on leave for mental health and axiety as a result. He was approved for Short-term Disability but has been denied Long-term.
Chapter 8:
What should I do if my insurance adjuster thinks I should try to return to work but my doctor says I am not ready?
My adjuster says that the fact that I am not trying to return to work is evidence that I am unwilling to do so and has said I will be cut off due to this.
Chapter 9:
If my doctor disagrees with the doctor from the insurance company which advice should I follow?
I have tried to follow all of my insurance companies recommendations during my recovery. Recently they have told me that if I take a new medication that my doctor has prescribed that I will be cutoff, because their doctor disagrees.
Chapter 10:
My insurer has told me that my insurance will be cut off after 24 months, but I won’t be able to return to my job. Is there anything I can do?
I had triple bypass surgery followed by a heart attack and have been off work for about a year as a result. My doctors have told me that I can’t return to my job but my insurance company has said that I will be cutoff after 24 months.
